Arctic spring in the world heritage
The arctic spring offers day temperatures above freezing and colder nights that keep the snow from melting. We ski with light backpacks from hut to hut and discover the world heritage around the majestic Ahkka Mountain. From the huts we do daytrips, depending on the group we might climb a smaller peak or relax in a sunny wind protected snow couch. In April, the days are long with only a few hours of darkness but if you stay awake you could get awarded with a northern light show crossing the sky.
Together we travel where the jagged peaks of Sarek national park meet the high plains of Padjelanta. During centuries, the Sami People have lived and worked in the area and followed the reindeers during their migration from summer to winter grassing area. Since 1996 it is protected by UNESCO as a part of Laponia World heritage for its unique combination of nature and culture.

This tour is for you want to visit the three biggest national parks in Sweden and the World Heritage of Laponia, enjoy the long days of April and sleep in cozy mountain cabins. As most of the food is already delivered to the cabins it allows us to travel with a backpack of only about 8-10kg. The tour requires some skiing skills but no earlier mountain experience. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your physical ability or experience level.
Laponia Adventures values nutritious food made from real ingredients and put a lot of effort into preparing the menu for this tour. A typical day starts with a Swedish breakfast and in the evening, we cook dinner together in the hut. Our dinners are inspired by local food from the Sami culture as well as more general Swedish food. As long as weather permits we will have a longer break during the day to eat a lighter lunch and re-energize.
During our time in the mountains we stay in cozy cabin with no electricity or running water. We all help with the daily duties as carrying water or chopping wood to the fire. Even if the cabins are simple they provide the most essentials as heat, beds, blankets and everything we need for cooking and eating. Outhouses are often situated within 100 meters from the huts. The last day of the tour we will stay in hostels where you will share room with other participants of the group. Those days you will have access to both water-toilets and showers.
We work with local guides who have good knowledge of the culture and history in Laponia. They are all certified guides trained in wilderness first aid or live up to the same standard or higher. On this tour, our support team will deliver food to the huts beforehand. During the days you will be skiing with your guide carrying only lunch, personal clothing and safety equipment.
